    Soybean oil exports increased by 21% in 2020

    In the first eight months of 2020, Russia delivered 444 thousand tons of soybean oil to foreign markets in the amount of 319 million dollars. That is 21% higher than last year during the same period. In the 2016-2019, soybean oil exports increased by 30%.

    Closed ground vegetable production increased by 19.5%

    According to recent data of regional agribusiness management bodies, as of 18 August 2020, 898.4 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in winter greenhouses. That is 19.5% higher than last year during the same period (752 thousand tons). The cucumber harvest amounted to 563.03 thousand tons (+20%) and tomato harvest totaled 320.5 thousand tons (+19%). Taking into account the spring greenhouses, 931 thousand tons of vegetables were harvested in the protected ground during the period.

    "According to the data for the first half of 2020, taking into account fooddata for the EEU countries, Russia has delivered agricultural products to foreign markets with a total value of more than 13 billion dollars. These results are 2 billion dollars or 18% higher than during the same period last year," Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said.

    Dmitry Patrushev launched the unique passage of STS "Sedov" on the Northern sea route

    On August 19, the training sailing barque of Rosrybolovstvo "Sedov" departed Vladivostok for an expedition along the Northern sea route to its home port in Kaliningrad. As the Minister of agriculture Dmitry Patrushev noted in his welcome speech, a barque of such class traveling across the Arctic seas is a unique and unprecedented event. The expedition has a great symbolic significance and is aimed at raising global awareness to the issue of rational and careful development of the Arctic. Also it is intended to demonstrate the transporting potential of the shortest route between the East and the West.
