Berry production in Russia increased by 35%

According to recent data of regional Ministries of Agriculture, as of 4 August 2020, the berry production amounted to 10.8 thousand tons in agricultural organizations and peasant farms, including individual entrepreneurs. That is 35% higher than last year during the same period (8 thousand tons).The main types of berries grown in the country are garden strawberries, currants, raspberries, gooseberries, sea buckthorn, blueberries and honeysuckle.
The leading berry producing regions in the commodity sector are the farms of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, the Altai and Krasnodar Territories, the Oryol, Moscow and Lipetsk regions.
State support measures that are provided within the implementation of the State program for agricultural development contribute to the increase in indicators. Due to this, there is a stable growth in the berry production for domestic consumption.
