The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia discussed the progress of seasonal fieldwork. First Deputy Minister Dzhambulat Khatuov chaired the meeting.
As of July 5, the sowing campaign has been completed in all the country's regions. Spring crops have been planted on 52 million hectares, which is 1.6 million more than last year. In particular, there was an increase in areas under spring cereals, sugar beet, sunflowers, rapeseed, soybeans, and vegetables. The spring fieldwork, generally, has been completed on time and to a high standard.
Some regions in the Southern, North Caucasus and Volga federal districts have already started harvesting. Farmers have gathered cereals and legumes from 1.2 million hectares, with 4.1 million tons of grain collected. There is an increase in yields for several crops due to the improved work with seed, crop protection products, and fertilisers. Meanwhile, farmers have stocked 4.6 million tonnes of roughage and dry fodder. The balance remaining from last year is exceeding 5.4 million tons.
The meeting also reviewed the availability of workforce reserves, agricultural equipment, mineral fertilisers, and fuel and lubricants in the regions.
