Domestic winemakers produced 11.3 million decalitres of sparkling wine in January-November 2021.

The Krasnodar Territory leads among the regions, producing 4.9 million decalitres. The Republic of Dagestan took second place with local winemakers producing 1.9 million decalitres. The Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, St. Petersburg, and Sevastopol were also among the leaders.

In recent years, domestic and international experts have noted a significant improvement in the quality of Russian wine products. In particular, this trend can be seen in the results of The Russian Wine Guide, which is the annual joint project by the Russian Quality System, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In 2021, almost 150 samples of sparkling wines and champagne were examined as part of this project, and more than 84% of them met the higher quality standard.

The achievements of Russian producers last year have earned international recognition as well. For example, Abrau-Durso won in the Rising Star category in The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships.
