Russian farmers harvested over 1.1 million tons of vegetables

Harvesting in Russia is currently progressing apace. The campaign is going smoothly in 45 of the country's regions, from the South to the Far East.Farmers have already started harvesting early varieties of cabbage, carrots, beets, onions, and also tomato, cucumber, and other crops.
Over 250 thousand tons of vegetables have been harvested in the open field. The production of greenhouse vegetables has also shown a positive dynamic since the beginning of the year. The organised sector has produced more than 880 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables so far, 22.4% higher than in the same period last year. This includes 531 thousand tons of cucumbers and 331 thousand tons of tomatoes.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia expects the production of the main open field vegetables to grow this season. The potato harvest is projected to increase by 5% to 7.15 million tons, carrots by 3.1%, cabbage and onion by 1%, tomato by 5%, and cucumber by 3%. The greenhouse vegetable harvest will exceed 1.4 million tons, up from 1.37 million tons last year.
